Kierstin Bible

Voice Instructor

Kierstin discovered her love of music at a very early age, when she began studying piano in the third grade. She began playing the clarinet in the sixth grade (thanks to a scholarship from the principal, who heard her playing the piano one day after school) and the alto saxophone in the tenth grade. When she began singing with the church choir in the eleventh grade she know she had found her instrument. She graduated third in her high school class and took a year off before going to college. In that time, she worked as the director's assistant at the Augsburg Community Theatre, further cementing her love for performing.

In the fall of 1990 she began studying voice with Dr. Eldon Black at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. In the summer of 1994 she sang at Opera in the Ozarks and landed a graduate assistantship at the University of Arkansas. She graduated for ASU cum laude with her Bachelors of Music in August of 1995 and began working on her Master's Degree at the University of Arkansas in the same month. 1995 was also the year she began teaching private voice lessons and conducting church choral ensembles. In 1996 she again attended Opera in the Ozarks, where, in addition to singing, she tried her had at directing for the first time. In 1997 she graduated with the Master's Degree.

From 1997 to 2001, Mrs. Bible maintained a sizeable private voice studio, coached competitive performing ensembles, directed several evening of scenes, directed a small church choir and met her future husband, Brian Bible. She also taught voice lessons and directed the choir at the Institute for Music, Worship, and the Arts for three semesters. In the fall of 2001, Kierstin moved to Kansas City to study voice with Dr. Anne DeLaunay and pursue her doctorate in voice. Having completed her course work, she is back in Arkansas to finish up the final requirements. She will be teaching Music Appreciation and private voice lessons at the University of Arkansas in Ft. Smith, establishing a private voice studio out of her house and returning to IMWA.

Kierstin valued her time at IMWA and is happy to be back with the friends she has made. She looks forward to teaching new students, making new friends and taking on new challenges in the coming years.
