Teacher Janet Moreno

Janet Moreno

Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon, with a double major in vocal performance and elementary education. She has continued her education at the masters level taking courses in choral directing, the Kodaly method, various teaching methods, and creative arts courses. Highlight of her educational past include: participation in vocal master class taught by the last Gwendolyn Koldofsky, (U.C.L.A.), taking a steel drum course, certification from Seattle Pacific University in the ORFF method of teaching, and attending the Bach Festival in Eugene, Oregon. Janet's performance experiences are diverse. As an eighteen year old, she traveled for one year across the nation with a group named, "Bridge." The contemporary gospel group recorded several albums on the "Impact" label, and performed along side groups including, "The Imperials," the Rambos," and "The Danny Gaither Trio." She also traveled to Asia as a soloist/worship singer on a mission trip. She was a soloist with University Presbyterian Church in Seattle. Janet was also a member of "The Opera Players of Washington." Her professional experiences include teaching private voice and piano students, teaching elementary vocal music and middle school choir in the public schools for fourteen years and directing a community choir and various church choirs. Janet loves working with students of all ages and believes that everyone can be taught to sing. She is an encourager and loves to expose students to a variety of music styles and repertoire.
